MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Implemented purchasing procedures to hedge against rising cost of materials to insure against inflation; therefore maintaining quality products and service, during time of escalating costs.

Implemented quality control procedures to ensure maximum production from equipment and supplies. This reduced downtime to equipment and enhanced the #1 priority of employee safety.

Evaluated and implementing time saving procedures to reduce unproductive man-hours; this increased productivity, saved money while reducing employee fatigue.

 

Worked diligently with customers to increase sales and maintain sales through customer relationships, resulting in long-term repeat business.

Volunteered to step in and perform subordinates assigned tasks, allowing them time to attend classes or academies for up-training and enjoy valuable time off.

BIO

Jim Grant

Jim has lived an interesting life completing two careers and now has embarked on a third career of serving others and helping them find their Pathway in Life.  

He is a native of Shelby, North Carolina, after graduation from Shelby High School, Jim entered the US Army and served on Active Duty for 3 years plus 3 years in the inactive reserve to complete his initial 6-year obligation.

Military Service:  During his active duty service from 1968 – 1971, Jim served a tour of duty in Tay Ninh, Vietnam 1969 – 1970.  He served 2 years in the Army Reserves 1976 – 1978. Later, he enlisted in the Arizona Army National Guard and served 10 years 1981 – 1991. After coming off active duty for 1year (1991) in support of Operation Desert Storm, Jim transferred to the Army Reserves (1992) and became a Certified Instructor in the US Army Signal Corps.  

Jim graduated from the Battle Focused Instructor Course (BFITC), Small Group Instructor Course (SGITC) and Total Army Instructor Course (TAITC).  He was an Instructor for over 12 years receiving promotions to Course Manager and retired in April 2004 as a Master Sergeant (E-8) after serving a total of 31 years.

During his military career, Jim attended numerous military courses in Leadership, Supervision, Training, Counseling, Manpower Management and Career Management Field.

Numerous military awards including, 4 Army Commendation Medal ( ARCOM), 5 Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (ARCAM), 4 Army Good Conduct Medal,Gallantry Cross with Palm (MAC-V Tay Ninh, Vietnam) and Meritorious Unit Citation (1st Signal Brigade Tay Ninh, Vietnam).

Other Awards

Lifetime Member of US Army 95th Training Division, The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Founding Sponsor and Lifetime Member, Army Historical Museum.

Civilian Career:  Managed retail stores, Independent contractor, self-employed for most of his career and owner of a manufacturing business for 25 years.  Jim did business with many Fortune 100 companies, supervised, trained and managed personnel in various industries. Known for his Leadership, Jim excelled in all of his endeavors.   

Education: Business Administration, Cochise College and Eastern Arizona College; Numerous military courses in Leadership, Supervision, Training, and Self-Improvement.
