Jim has lived an interesting life completing two careers and now has embarked on a third career of serving others and helping them find their Pathway in Life.
He is a native of Shelby, North Carolina, after graduation from Shelby High School, Jim entered the US Army and served on Active Duty for 3 years plus 3 years in the inactive reserve to complete his initial 6-year obligation.
Military Service: During his active duty service from 1968 – 1971, Jim served a tour of duty in Tay Ninh, Vietnam 1969 – 1970. He served 2 years in the Army Reserves 1976 – 1978. Later, he enlisted in the Arizona Army National Guard and served 10 years 1981 – 1991. After coming off active duty for 1year (1991) in support of Operation Desert Storm, Jim transferred to the Army Reserves (1992) and became a Certified Instructor in the US Army Signal Corps.
Jim graduated from the Battle Focused Instructor Course (BFITC), Small Group Instructor Course (SGITC) and Total Army Instructor Course (TAITC). He was an Instructor for over 12 years receiving promotions to Course Manager and retired in April 2004 as a Master Sergeant (E-8) after serving a total of 31 years.
During his military career, Jim attended numerous military courses in Leadership, Supervision, Training, Counseling, Manpower Management and Career Management Field.
